our newest edition of the Nielson Christmas Village!
Introducing the Lazona Estate!
We resided in this darling ranch bungalow from 2006-2008.
This house was such a darling little place in such a darling
little neighborhood in downtown Mesa, Arizona.
This is the house that we were living in when our accident happened.
After August 16, 2008, I stepped out of this house with pizza dough
rising on the counter and never came back. Ever.
It's still a hard pill to swallow.
After the accident, and while I was still in the hospital
we sold it and moved to Utah to be closer to my family
as we recovered from our injuries.
Those were hard days.
But before the tragedy that would change the trajectory of our lives,
the Lazona House was everything.
This house represents a breath of fresh air for me.
I found myself in this house.
I felt like a genuine grown-up raising my children,
being an unapologetic homemaker and housewife.
I blogged and started a little business in that house, got my concealed carry permit,
for magazines and online publications.
We took one of my favorite family photos in front of the Lazona Estate.
I started doing the beloved tradition, our famous Back to School Feasts,
Mr. Nielson got a good job in that house, built the Mulberry Treehouse
(which is prominently featured in the new Christmas village),
and he got his pilot's license.
Claire and Jane both had their first days of school, and
It was where Ollie got his two front teeth knocked out, and
where Nicholas frequented the back porch
and acquired a taste for dog food.
I cherish that chapter of my life and what this little
house in Mesa, Arizona, symbolizes to our family.
Only four more Nielson houses to go!!
Thanks, Courtney S!
Merry Christmas!
