Scrooge With Hives

In my attempt to make Christmas as magical as possible,
I had the bright idea to get solar lights and light the
little juniper tree across the pond.
My imagination saw a cute little tree lit up
and reflecting its lights off the pond,
creating a super quaint scene out of the window.
While everyone was away this afternoon, I decided to put up the lights.
I can't wait to surprise my family!
I can already picture it: we're all sitting at the table
when someone looks out and sees the tree all lit up.
What a truly magical surprise that would be!
Well, turns out the tree is literally growing out of the pond
and there is no way I could attach the lights unless
I had a little canoe or something.  I attempted to put them up by
climbing, straddling, and wrestling the poor juniper tree.
In the process, I bumped, scratched, and scraped up my body.
It was not pretty, AND the lights didn't even work.
I went home feeling defeated.
A few hours passed, and I began itching.
I haven't stopped.
I have hives ALL OVER MY BODY!
They hurt, and I'm miserable.
MISERABLE, I TELL YOU!
I think these hives had help from my stress level, too
because I'm feeling it from all directions.
I think once I am finally certified as a Barre3 instructor, I'll
be feeling much better, but as it stands, I'm still
trying to get there, and it isn't easy.
Oh, and I wish all my Christmas shopping was done!
I've barely scratched the surface.
Speaking of scratching, I need to put socks on my hands because
I am scratching my skin off!

Sometimes I wish we didn't have to give gifts at Christmas.
Can't we just enjoy each other's company, the lights,
the Hygge, the warmth, the food, and the focus entirely on Jesus?
Ok, ok, that was my inner Scrooge talking.

Scrooge with hives isn't pretty!
