Kitty was even worse today!
When I checked on her early this morning, she didn't even lift her head up.
I lifted her little body (bag of bones) up
and I could feel heat radiating off.
She could barely open her eyes.
I thought she was going to die any minute in my arms.
I used the syringe and fed her water throughout the day.
Later tonight, Claire was holding her while we googled her symptoms
and noticed the left side of her neck was very swollen.
then Claire said while pulling back a chunk of the fur
on the left side of her neck,
"Mom, what's this?"
It was a tiny hole.
For a trypophobic, it was super triggering, if you know what I mean.
"I don't know! I'm shocked you found that! It's so little!"
I said back.
We got Gigs' magnifying goggles and a light, and future Dr. Nielson
discovered that the hole in Kitty's neck was no ordinary hole.
IT WAS A BOT FLY HOLE, AND WE FOUND
A WORM INSIDE HER NECK.
Christian came into the room at the sound of our scream, and minutes later,
while holding down a very sick Kitty, a giant worm was extracted
from her neck.
I've never seen anything like it.
It was dead.
Dead.
We searched her body for more holes, then I fed her more water
and put her in her little bed, and we prayed as a family that she'd
live through the night.
Prayers for Kitty!!
