What Are You Doing New Years Eve?

The Nielsons are ready for 2025!
Tonight, Jane made us a lovely New Year's Eve dinner
and together, we made fun drinks every
hour on the hour starting at 7:00.
We took lots of photos and made 2025 goals.
We placed last year's bubblie bottle with our 2024 goals on the
fence line outside in the dark, and we each took turns shooting
at it until Christian finally hit the bottle.
It was fun to read what I had written to myself.
At the end of my letter, I wrote;
"Be good to yourself".
I got teary-eyed.  How true is this?
It's so easy to be my own harshest critic.
It’s painful to realize that sometimes I hold myself back from progressing
because of a lack of confidence.
Opening a Barre3 studio has been huge for me.
And sometimes, when things get hard, or I don't know what things mean,
I want to crawl in a shell and never come out.
My biggest fear is looking stupid.
This year, I'm going to be good myself.
Good and patient.
We played games and ate my traditional Yule Log
for dessert.  We let off fireworks at midnight, kissed,
and then went to bed.
Tomorrow morning, we're all planning on jumping in the frigid lake
to officially welcome 2025!

Sweet & Savory

Jane came home from school with ideas
brimming out of her curly orange head!
Drinks to make, things to bake, places to visit,
movies to watch, music to hear, crafts to create, and
meals to make, including waffle night, which we held tonight.
This was no ordinary waffle night; this was a sweet and savory waffle night.
And it was delicious!
Waffles with beans, waffles with salmon,
waffles with fruit, and waffles with cheese.
The sky was the limit, and it was delicious!

We ate around a cozy fire and talked about what
the rest of the year holds for our family.
Spoiler alert: good stuff!

Oliver in Brazil: December 2024

 Merry Christmas, Elder Nielson!

Am I such a bad Mom for only sending TWO packages in total
for the TWO years he's been gone?
And this Christmas (and his birthday one week later) was no different.
I promised him when he gets back home (in 44 days) that, we'd get
something fun (clothes) for him.
He doesn't really care, besides he told me his Mission leader,
Sister Rawlings gave him a "sweet present."
Thank you, mission Mama!
Enjoy Ollie in Brazil in December!
