A lot of things happened to Sister Jane in the month
of November in Portugal!
In her own words:
Our dear friend Kika is working so hard to stop smoking so
she can be baptized here soon. It won't be easy, but with the
Lord's help, she will be able to do it; I know it!
Sister Austin and I went over to her house and put pictures of
Jesus and scripture quote on her walls and cigarette case.
Her new theme has become Philippians 4:13,
"I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me."
Sister Austin and I were deathly ill this past week, like, so sick.
We didn't leave our apartment for 5 DAYS! (pneumonia?!)
My ward is incredible, though; they took such good care of us!
I am really learning how I want to be.
I want to serve, minister, love, and give without a second thought.
That IS what the Savior did, after all!
This week we will watch Brasil play in the ward cup
with a couple of Brazilian families in our ward!
Before my mission, I never cared about soccer
(Cristiano Ronaldo, who?)
But never, in my life, have I been more excited
about a soccer, er, football game. Ever.
Vai Brasil!
(What am I saying?! I'm literally serving my mission in Portugal!
Apparently, I have some Brasil loyalty because, did you hear,
now Claire AND Oliver will have served their
missions in that beautiful place! Portuguese 4-ever!)
My district got to go to the temple in Lisbon last week.
It was beautiful and peaceful, and I had missed having the
strength and power that came into my life when I worshiped in the temple.
Amazingly, the language is different,
and I don't understand everything that is said, but the feelings are the same!
It truly is the house of the Lord.
This gospel is so good. It changes lives.
I feel so much gratitude for my Savior, and what
He did for me, and for all of us!
The Atonement of Jesus Christ is truly a power we can have
in every aspect of our lives if we just reach out to Him.
Missions are hard, but I know I am not alone in this work,
His work, gathering His sheep back into His fold.
I can do all things through Christ, who strengtheneth me...and so can you!
Transfers happened this month.
Goodbye Sister Austin, Hello Sister O!
(It was a very sad goodbye!)
Go, Jane, Go!
