The rain continued off and on all day, and as
I type this; the rain is still coming down.
On Sunday night, the school district called to make us
aware that they had canceled school for
Monday because of severe flooding in our area.
Last night around 7:30, we got a phone call again informing
us that school would be canceled again for Tuesday.
It feels weird to be excited when so many are suffering.
Mr. Nielson spent part of his workday in the garage oiling up his
chain saw and getting tools together so he and some other
members of our neighborhood church congregation (me too!),
can go to the hardest hit areas in the state to help relieve suffering and remove
fallen debris and trees in homes, yards, and roads.
Outside water pours down the streets, ditches are clogged, and erosion
has eaten away at many roads and riverbeds.
The boys spent the day inside doing this:
I don't even know what this is.
But it kept them busy for a good portion of the day.
Tonight as I was setting the table for dinner, I happened to look
out my window because, for the first time in almost a week, the sun
poked out of the thick clouds and, with her, a beautiful rainbow.
