Before your scars.

Last night before bed and after Oliver and I brushed our teeth at
the sink, he looked at me and said:
"Mom, I don't really remember you before you had these scars,
and now they are just you.
Do you think that I will know who you are when
the Resurrection happens?".
That comment took me back a little bit, but I was so grateful that he asked.
I love sharing with my children the belief I have that, without a doubt,
I know I will one day be restored perfect-without scars and blemishes.
I told him that it will a beautiful moment filled with incomprehensible.
joy and triumph for our family.

"These sacred bodies, for which we are so grateful, suffer from natural limitations.
Some people are born with disabilities, and some suffer the pains
of disease throughout their lives. All of us as we age experience our bodies
gradually beginning to fail. When this happens, we long
for the day when our bodies will be healed and whole.
We look forward to the Resurrection that Jesus Christ made possible, when
“the soul shall be restored to the body, and the body to the soul; yea,
and every limb and joint shall be restored to its body; yea, even a
hair of the head shall not be lost; but all things shall be restored to
their proper and perfect frame” Alma 40:23
I know that through Christ we can experience a fullness of joy that is available
only when spirit and element are inseparably connected  D&C 93:33."
As I contemplate my upcoming surgeries and changes, I am reminded that
as a daughter of God, my body was created in His image.
And because we have mortal bodies, it is almost guaranteed
that we will have pain and disappointments.
But He provided a way, and one day I will have a perfect body free
from pain, hurt, and disability.  I can't wait for that day.
And yes, I know that Oliver- and the rest of my children, will know
recognize, and rejoice with me when that great day comes
because of the beautiful miracle and Atonement of Christ.
