Saturday, Mr. Nielson took me on a summer evening drive.
I sat shotgun, snuggled up to him in his truck with the
windows down, listening to music really loud like teenagers.
When we got far enough out of town, we
stopped on the side of the road and walked in the middle of a field
where hundreds of fresh-cut hay bales sat.
Then we took pictures of each other taking photos of each other,
watched the sun sink below the mountains, and then called it a night.
It was a moment I don't think I will ever forget.
I am grateful for our marriage, where communication and respect are
everything. We live for each other, pray for each other, and raise our children
together, honoring God with one heart and one mind.
We value each other as equal partners.
"Marriage, in its truest sense, is a partnership of equals,
with neither excessing dominion over the other, but,
rather, with each encouraging and assisting the
other in whatever responsibilities and aspirations he or she might have."
