There are areas on my body, actually most of my body,
where I can't feel sensations such as heat, cold, or tickles.
This is a result of my burns, and I have learned to live with it.
But, I am very cautious when running a tub for myself or for
Lottie and I always check the temperature using my feet,
which were fortunately not burned.
Yesterday, while wearing a long skirt, I helped Mr. Nielson in the yard
and occasionally felt the pressure of the tall grass on the parts
of my legs that weren't as burned.
Then I remembered the feeling of freshly shaved legs.
That's a good feeling.
Well, I miss that feeling.
I mean, don't get me wrong, I am not complaining about not ever having to
shave again, but I do miss the simple pleasures of a normal body.
Sometimes, the Little Nies love to tickle
the burns on my arms, legs, and even my face.
They ask me to tell them when I can feel it--which usually is never.
I can certainly feel Lottie the unicorn putting lipstick
on my lips, though, and WOWZA!
Did you know that a large portion of my belly skin
was burned, so do you wonder if I have a belly button?
