This is Jane in 2004:
I'll never forget this day.
I was feeding her pineapple upside-down cake at Page's house.
She loved it- if you can't already tell.
Today Nicholas's teacher called to let me know that he was
not feeling well, and to come to pick him up.
As I was walking down the stairs to get in my car the phone rang again.
It was the elementary school secretary.
She told me that Nicholas was starting to get very nervous because
his leg was twitching.
I acted very serious on the phone and tried not to laugh.
I told her I would be there in less than 5 minutes.
I pulled up to the school just as Nicholas ran out the door
and toward me, the school secretary following.
She waved her hand to me and yelled, Go!
He jumped in the car and settled back in his seat.
After about three seconds in the car, Nicholas let out a
huge sigh of relief and said
"I am feeling SO much better mom"
I think he just needed me.
